“Great store, great employees and a cornerstone for how every grocery store should be run.”

“I shop at this store each week and I am continually disappointed with their produce section. The prices of their products keep me coming back but I can’t even tell you how many rotten apples I’ve had to toss once I cut into them. When I have the extra money I’ll usually shop for non-perishables at MB and go elsewhere for perishables. It’s a shame.”

“I love this local Market Basket. Although there is a little less selection, the prices are substantially less expensive than Shaw’s and Stop & Shop.

The bakery is excellent. I used to live in East Boston, and I have spent a lot of time in the North End. I have had my fair share of Italian cookies and pastries. The cookies and pastries made at the bakery in this Market Basket are on par. The birthday cakes are awesome.

If I ever move, I will miss this place.”

“Convenient location, great selection of fresh produce, and ever greater offering of organic foods, international cuisine, and hard-to-find niche brands. Prices are fair, staff is courteous, and in the rare case of a poor quality item the customer service desk handles exchanges promptly and without hassle. Can be very crowded at certain times of day; shop early in the morning for a more peaceful experience and shorter checkout lines. Easy to stop in for groceries after a workout at Choice Fitness next door.”

“This location has improved significantly. They seem to have stepped up their game once West Gate’s Market Basket got a face lift. They have more lines open. The produce department has improved dramatically; I’ve been finding fresher produce here than at West Gate.”

“The new store is just outstanding! I particularly love the deli department sandwiches. I’ve even stopped going to Subway. Their business at this store has to have doubled since opening the hew store. Price are very competitive. “

Market Basket on Lowell Ave, off River St, is like the neighborhood grocery store of my younger days. It is quick and easy to run in and get a few items or get a week’s worth of groceries without taking too long to get in and out.
I prefer to shop where there is a bakery and this Market Basket has a nice one. If you can’t find what you are looking for in their display tables ask one of the friendly bakery employees. They have even gone into the back room and brought out a loaf of bread from the freezer for me. It thaws quickly at home and you don’t need to put it in the oven.
My only drawback is that they change or replace many items. When I asked a clerk about an item I was told it was a seasonal change. I think vegetables are seasonal but certain kinds of pasta or support items aren’t really seasonable. My wife and I always joke that if we like a certain item a lot the store finds out and stops selling it. It can be disappointing at times when you come in to shop.
I would recommend the Market Basket on Lowell Ave to any busy person who likes lower prices and and a well organized store. Just don’t get too attached to “seasonal” items.

Best grocery store prices in area but they greatly need a weekly internet ad that also can be sent to subscribers!

I like this store but I don’t understand why they don’t carry Goya refried beans. They carry Goya products. And they carry American-made refried beans, but why not carry the best? This store is great other than that, though
